Community Support Highlights

6/10/2026 7:01 pm

Thank you to all of the families and volunteers who helped make so many community-building events possible this year.

We kicked off the school year with our Welcome Back Coffee, giving parents a chance to connect, meet new families, and start the year together. During the holidays, families generously contributed to our Holiday Luncheon for teachers and staff, helping us show our appreciation for all they do. We also hosted a Founder's Day Luncheon to celebrate and recognize the many volunteers whose time and dedication make our school community so special.

Throughout Parent-Teacher Conference Weeks, families donated meals, snacks, drinks, and treats to support teachers during long days of conferences and preparation.

These events reflect what makes our school community so special—parents, staff, and volunteers coming together to support one another. Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, or participated throughout the year. Your contributions helped create a welcoming and connected community for all.

Kathy Tsai, VP of Community Support & Mom to Dylan (3rd), Evie (5th), and Maddie (7th)

Community Outreach Highlights

6/10/2026 7:00 pm

Serving the Franklin community as Outreach Co-Chairs has been a truly rewarding experience. From Ice Cream & Pizza Social and Glow Party to Bingo Night and the Franklin Festival, we have loved bringing our school community together through these special events. Watching students laugh, families connect, and staff celebrate alongside one another has been a wonderful reminder of the strong and supportive community that makes Franklin so special.

None of these events would have been possible without the incredible support of our volunteers, families, staff, and community members. Whether you shared an idea, donated supplies, volunteered your time, or simply attended an event, you helped make each gathering a success. Your enthusiasm and generosity created memories that will last long after this school year ends.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve in this role and be part of so many meaningful moments. It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated people who care deeply about our students and school.

We wish everyone a fun, relaxing summer and look forward to seeing Franklin continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead.

With sincere appreciation,

Bhavya, Community Outreach Co-Chair & Mom to Ayodhya (1st) & Aarian

Haivanna, Community Outreach Co-Chair & Mom to Ivory (Kinder)

Fundraising Highlights

6/10/2026 6:59 pm

This year has been a wonderful reminder of what makes the Franklin community so special. Time and again, our families, staff, students, and supporters came together to help create meaningful experiences for our children. Through fundraising events, volunteer efforts, and generous donations, we were able to support programs and activities that enrich our students' educational journey.

Our annual Walk-A-Thon was a tremendous success and truly showcased the spirit and pride of the Franklin community. Families, students, teachers, and volunteers came together to create a fun and memorable event for our children. In addition to the walk itself, students enjoyed the day filled with music, games, and entertainment that brought excitement and energy to the event. Seeing our students laughing, cheering each other on, and celebrating together was a wonderful reminder of the strong sense of community we have at Franklin. It was inspiring to see everyone rally around a common goal, and thanks to your generosity and enthusiasm, we exceeded our fundraising goal by 10% (total raised: $89,000). The funds raised will directly supported enrichment programs, educational opportunities, and school activities that benefit all of our students. I am deeply thankful to everyone who volunteered their time, donated resources, and contributed financially to make this event such a success.

Our Cookie Dough Sale was another successful tradition this year. Not only were we able to provide families with delicious treats in time for the holidays, but we also continued a fundraiser that our community has come to enjoy and support. Thank you to everyone who placed orders and to the many volunteers who dedicated their time to organizing and distributing the cookie dough. Your efforts helped make the sale run smoothly and successfully, and your support helped us continue providing valuable opportunities for our students.

We were also pleased to continue our annual Book Fair, another cherished Franklin tradition. The Book Fair provided students with access to exciting new books while helping support our school. It was wonderful to see students excited about reading and exploring new stories. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, participated, and helped ensure the event's success.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to every parent, volunteer, donor, teacher, staff member, and supporter who contributed throughout the year. Fundraising plays a vital role in our school community, as every dollar raised goes right back to our students through enrichment opportunities, programs, and activities. None of what we accomplished this year would have been possible without your generosity, dedication, and countless hours of volunteer support.

Together, we have made a meaningful difference for our children, and I am incredibly grateful for all that we have achieved. The success of these events reflects the strength, generosity, and spirit of the Franklin community. I look forward to building on this success and working alongside our amazing families, staff, and supporters for another great year ahead.

Sincerely,

Dannis Chang, VP of Fundraising & Dad to Dayton (Kinder) and Darrick Chang (3 yo)

Enrichment Highlights

6/10/2026 6:55 pm

Here’s a look back at the amazing array of enrichment programs brought to our campus month after month. Our goal was to spark curiosity, foster creativity, and bring learning to life.

Our teachers and students enjoyed an incredible lineup of experiences this year:

September 2025: Sky Dome Planetarium Assembly

Students journeyed through a mobile planetarium, learning to identify constellations, the Milky Way, and the planets of the Northern Hemisphere.

October 2025: Dance-Inspired Well-Being Assembly

Our students had an absolute blast at the high-energy Cousin Danny school assembly! Through explosive dance moves and music, our kids learned powerful lessons about kindness, confidence, and emotional wellness.

November 2025: Bot! The Secret World of Robots

A high-tech STEM assembly featuring real-world robotics and live coding demonstrations that turned fascination into concrete computer programming fundamentals.

December 2025: San Francisco Opera Guild

An immersive cultural experience introducing our students to the power of musical storytelling.

January 2026: Alphabet Rockers & Young Authors Day

A massive month for creative expression! Students learned about inclusion and equity with the Alphabet Rockers, followed by a full day of creative writing coached and performed live by a master mime artist.

February 2026: Bug Lady Museum Workshop

A tactile, hands-on STEM workshop where students interacted safely with live arthropods to turn natural fears into scientific curiosity and biology skills.

March 2026: Math Night & SF Opera Guild

Families joined together for a packed night of math games and pizza with Mathnasium, while TK, K, and 1st-grade students stepped into the interactive musical theater world of the SF Opera's Sing a Story program.

April 2026: Franklin Science Day & Family STEM Night

For Science Day, students rotated through stations hosted by Mobile Ed, a professional STEM education vendor. That same evening, Falcon families participated in 4 hands-on STEM Night stations led and hosted by parents. Franklin families explore human biology, food science/chocolate-making, microscopes, and STEM kits.

Volunteer Highlights

6/10/2026 6:41 pm

I am writing to you today not just to wrap up the year, but to send a deeply felt, personal thank you to every single parent who gave their time, their energy, and their resources to our school.

When I first stepped into the role of Volunteer VP, it was because the incredible dedication of previous volunteers to our school, teachers, and children deeply inspired me. Seeing their devotion was what motivated me to take on volunteer recruitment. What I didn’t realize was how much this role would transform me. It forced me to step completely out of my comfort zone, and in doing so, it gifted me the opportunity to connect deeply with so many of you.

Looking back at this jam-packed, fulfilling year, it is undeniably clear: the PTA could not host a single event, run a single program, or do anything at all without our volunteers.

You showed up in every single way possible. You gave your physical strength, your hard-earned money, and your most valuable asset: your time.

  • You kept our kids safe and smiling during lunch duties.
  • You brought magic and learning into classrooms as room reps and through our enrichment programs.
  • You showered our staff with love during appreciation events.
  • You gave generously through donations,  and you brought our families together at unforgettable community events.

Every milestone this year bears your fingerprints.

My greatest hope is that you feel the warmth of this community just as deeply as I do. I hope you feel that Franklin is not just a school, but your home. More than anything, I hope you share the same immense pride that I feel whenever I talk about how much I love Franklin.

Thank you for stepping up, and thank you for making this year special for our children. I am so lucky to walk alongside you.

Have a wonderful, beautiful summer!

With all my love and gratitude,

Abby Lin, VP Volunteers & Mom to Angus (2nd) and Ashby (TK)
