Franklin Science Day & Family STEM Night Recap
Our Franklin Science Day this year was a huge success! Students were excited to spend a full day immersed in hands-on STEM learning and discovery.
During the school day, students rotated through engaging STEM stations hosted by Mobile Ed, a professional STEM education vendor. Students explored a variety of topics through interactive, hands-on learning experiences designed to spark curiosity and excitement.
We also wanted to send a quick but heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who jumped in at the last minute yesterday to help with our Mobile Ed. We had a sudden need for extra hands, and you truly saved the day! Your willingness to step up on such short notice is what makes our Franklin community so special. We couldn't have pulled it off without your "emergency" support.
In the evening, we continued the celebration with our Family STEM Night, kicking off with an exciting demonstration from the Burlingame Robotics Club. Families then explored four interactive STEM stations together:
- Chocolate Station – Students learned about different types of chocolate and explored how chocolate is made, from bean to bar.
- Human Body Station – Healthcare professionals introduced students to the human body and helped them learn about key systems and how our bodies work.
- Microscopes & Zebrafish Station – Students got a close-up look at the microscopic world, exploring slides, zebrafish, and other fascinating specimens.
- STEM Kits Station – Students built their own balancing birds and doodling robots, combining creativity, engineering, and fun hands-on problem solving.
We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the Leads, Co-Leads, and parent volunteers. Your thoughtful planning and hard work truly brought science to life for our students. A special thank you to STEM Leads/Co-Leads Rachel, Taylor, Maggie, Jessica, Ana, Jackie, Prasad, and Winnie for their thoughtful curriculum planning and execution, and Abby, Reshma, and Manasi for their leadership and support, and to Mrs. Lawrence and Mrs. O’Dea for their constant help with logistics and coordination—this event would not have been possible without all of you!
